Sportraiture: Susanne Pawliuk

Susanne’s passion for sports photography grew while spending hours watching her boys play a multitude of sports. She has volunteered as a team photographer for many organizations and has donated over 30,000 images to the Alberta Junior Curling League, Little League Baseball, Edmonton Minor Hockey, Basketball, Soccer and Lacrosse. Susanne has a front row seat at all the sporting events and because of this she is able to capture the emotion on the athlete’s faces.
Susanne uses a Canon 6D camera with a 70-200 mm lens and a f/2.8 aperture. She uses high shutter speeds and high ISO as using a flash is not an option. She has learned to shoot with both eyes open to track the action and avoid objects coming her way (although she has not always been that successful at dodging the latter; Susanne has been hit with two pucks, one basketball, and a baseball, and she has had many near misses). |
I am sure all the athletes, coaches and parents are grateful to Susanne for documenting all of their special moments and we as IACC members have learned a little about Sport photography.
Susanne has been a member of IACC for five years. |
