Saturday, Sep 24, 2022 - Outing: Elk Island National Park Fall Colours
TIME: 10 AM, meet up at south entry gate. Park is open until 4 PM.
WHERE: This is traditionally the best time for Fall colours at the park. Note that the buffalo are starting into their rutting season and have been hanging out around the buffalo circle road area, as opposed to their daily trek to the east side of the park. There is a lot of opportunity to photograph them but be very cautious as this is the season when they are most dangerous.
COST: $8.50 Adult. $7.25 Senior. Regular park admission fees apply, unless you have a National Park pass.
Photo tip: to photograph them from your car. Pick up a pool noodle and cut it into a 12 inch length. Cut a slit the length of the noodle halfway through. This will slide easily over your vehicle side window glass and serve as a tripod to photograph from inside the car. Remember to shut off vehicles to reduce vibration.
CONTACT: outings@imagesalberta.ca to be added to the attendance list. Please indicate in the heading which outing you are registering for.
