Wednesday, Nov 20, 2019 - Image Selection and Preparation for Competitions and Portfolio
Darlene has over 32 years experience in photography, was a qualified judge with PPOC, and has been teaching photography for over 8 years. So she knows what is needed here. Please note that Darlene has been a long standing member of our club, and this workshop is her way of “giving back”.

When: Wednesday, November 20, 2019 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Where: Inglewood Community League, 12525 116 Ave NW, Edmonton
Cost: $5
How to register: closed
Deadline for registrations: Thursday, November 14 at midnight, or when full. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. All members who are selected to attend will be notified via email no later than midnight on Sunday, November 17
Space: limited to 30 IACC members
Prerequisite: membership in IACC
What to Bring: no need to bring anything other than a note taking device
Cancellations: if you need to cancel your registration, please send a message to workshops@imagesalberta.ca. There will be no refunds if 48 hours notice is not provided.
Workshop details
This workshop is all about helping you put your best images forward whether that be for a competition entry, or for adding to your portfolio. In this workshop, Darlene will help you select your best images and learn what to look for to wow judges and friends, As well, she’ll also give you ideas and tips on how to prepare your chosen images includes cropping for the best composition, photo editing to draw the viewer’s attention and create impact, how to save in the correct image file format and colour profile, and more. You will learn what the judges are looking for in terms of both technical and aesthetic qualities in a winning image.
You will need to submit up to 2 of your images for her to personally review and get a plan for how to proceed with them. Time permitting (depending on the number of images received) you may get to see how she would process your image to make it into a WOW. Please click here to submit images directly to Darlene
