Outing details

The Strathcona Raptor Shelter/Alberta Society for Injured Birds of Prey has graciously agreed to open their doors to club members to learn a little about the great work they do.  We will receive an interpretive introduction at 10 AM and then we will have the opportunity to photograph the majestic birds that are at the shelter.

After visiting the shelter, we have been invited to visit the Oeming Game Farm property that hosts a variety of photography opportunities such as black tailed groundhogs, horses, a beautiful lake (there may be swans if we are lucky!) and also an additional shelter where there are some hawks and eagles.  For these birds, a person will be there to control the flow and make sure  only a few people at a time is inside, since those are injuried animals that require special attention.

Please note that every participant needs to bring a signed waiver to enter the facilities.  The waiver form can be downloaded here

Directions: Access via Hwy 14, east to Hwy 824 (RR222) and about 6 km north on west side of the road.  It can also be accessed via Township Road 520 (Hwy 629) to Hwy 824 (RR 222) and 0.5 km south on west side of the road.

Please see additional images at the bottom of the form.  Special thanks to Colin Vince for helping organize this outing.
