Lynette Jonson: Member Showcase

Reflection of an Artist
By Tarra Kongsrude, IACC Member

"Art is a microscope that the artist fixes on the secrets of his soul,
and shows to people these secrets, which are common to all

Lynette Jonson deliberately reflects her upbringing, personal beliefs and inner world through her photography. She is drawn to dramatic prairie landscapes and lonely ghost towns, which capture her memories of being raised on an Alberta farm near a small community that no longer exists. She often inserts herself in these photos as homage to her past.

Her moody photos of country churches and contemplative personal moments also echo the faith woven through her upbringing and her life today.

“When I travel, what I enjoy more than anything is the opportunity to reflect, to view humanity in all its forms, and see other points of view,” said Lynette. She is also drawn to architecture and nature, which reveal the art of creation.

Lynette feels a close connection with animals and waits patiently so she can capture their true essence in print.
She takes the same approach when photographing the subject most close to her heart – granddaughter Taylor.

Lynette’s thoughtful and introspective approach to photography reveals inner secrets that are common to us all – the desire to belong, to connect, to love.
