Photo Editing
When you alter an image file after it has come from your camera it may better represent what you actually saw in the scene, or capture the feeling and mood that you experienced at the time you took it.
In this special interest group, hosted by Gary Ford, members come together to build their image editing skills for realistic or journalistic style images. (See the example edits on the right.)
This group is open to beginners, intermediate and advanced photographers who wish to generally improve their post editing skills or produce better images for display and/or competitions. You can use whatever photo editing software you prefer but most members will use Adobe Lightroom and Camera RAW/Photoshop. Note: if you are primarily interested in visual special effects using Generative AI or creating digital photo art, consider instead the Editing - Digital Photo Art special interest group. Of course you're welcome to join both groups. We meet on the last Tuesday evenings of the month at 7:00 PM via zoom. Why Edit Your Photos? Add finesse and impact to your images by using:
Meeting Format Meetings are conducted digitally via Zoom. To participate you will need a computer with a microphone and camera, or a smart tablet. You must pre-register to receive the link to the Zoom meetings. |

What to expect
The meetings will have two components:
Before/After Image Editing Exercise - you will be invited to submit Before/After image sets where you show the image as it came from your camera and then your edited version(s) of that image. We will view and discuss the images
My Picture Your Edit Challenge Exercise - each month you will be challenged to try something new by working on RAW images supplied by the host and we will look at and discuss everyone's results.

We meet the last Tuesday of the month at 7 PM., for approximately 75-90 minutes. Each meeting will have a theme:

- Tue, Oct 29, 2024 – Cropping and Changing Background for better composition
- Tue, Nov 26, 2024 - Adding or Decreasing Contrast
- Tue, Jan 28, 2025 – Masking Layers
- Tue, Feb 25, 2025 - Managing light (No Light, No Problem)
- Tue, Mar 25, 2025 - Colour management and Colour Conversion
- Tue, Apr 29, 2025 - Sky replacement
- Tue, May 27, 2025 - Denoising and/or sharpening
- Tue, Jun 24, 2025 – Showing Our Favourite Work
