Club Highlights 2023-2024 Season
Images Alberta Camera Club has been active for nearly 50 years and remains strong and vibrant with 189 current members.
- Activities are primarily held online or in hybrid format (in person + online). This allows the club to host dynamic presenters and competition judges from across the globe.
- We coordinated 15 outings to photo rich locations such as Aldon’s Auto and Wagner Natural Area, members were invited to several inter-club presentations, we also hosted 12 external photography presenters and 10 member showcases. All the presentations are available on our members’ only YouTube page for repeat viewing.
- We are active in building the Alberta Camera Club Association (ACCA) that currently has 10 member clubs. We share resources to bring in specialty speakers.
- Our website won 2nd overall in its category (large club) in the PSA competition.
- We have an active social media presence on both Facebook and Instagram.
- We enter CAPA club competitions as well as host our own monthly club competition, and continue to display members’ work at Petroleum Plaza.
- The 11 Special Interest Groups (SIGs) hold monthly meetings online to learn more about specific photo genres, as well as share with other interested members. The SIGs continue to rate highly on the club members’ satisfaction survey.
- We awarded the annual Burwell Memorial Scholarship and the recipient Kristian Wolowidnyk presented some of his amazing wildlife photos to the club in May, 2024.
- The Board added a Recognition Committee to identify members who go above and beyond for the club. The recognition activities will launch in the 2024-25 season.
- On a fun note, our second annual members’ photo gear swap & sale was a success. Club members also enjoyed the annual winter potluck get together and the season end awards and celebration held in May.
