In Spring 2018, for the first time ever, Images Alberta Camera Club (IACC) members had the pleasure of capturing the activities at the annual Northern Alberta International Children’s Festival of the Arts held in St. Albert. The Festival was held from May 29 to June 3, 2018 and it “builds bridges between art, culture and education” and “transforms downtown St. Albert into a world where the only limitation is one’s imagination” (https://stalbert.ca/exp/childfest/about-the-festival/). Thank you to Troy Funk, St. Albert’s Marketing and Communications Supervisor/Festival Coordinator, who worked with IACC members Barbara and Vincent Morban to organize this photographic opportunity. On Saturday, May 26, prior to the start of the Festival, about 20 IACC volunteers attended a Training Session to learn tips about taking street shots, working effectively with the public and children, understanding event photography, and dealing with copyright issues, watermarks, and metadata. Thank you to the four presenters: Troy Funk, Festival Coordinator; Darlene Hildebrandt, IACC member and talented Edmonton-based photographer, and Nora Hartfelder and Fred Rushworth, IACC members and skilled event photographers. On each of the Festival days, there was never a shortage of photo ops; e.g., theatre performers, buskers, artists, families, vendors, sponsors. Thank you to the IACC members who uploaded 450 photographs to SmugMug! Troy was very grateful and impressed with the whole experience, and said, “From my end I think it went super smooth.” We agreed wholeheartedly … what a wonderful photographic opportunity for our members! |
