F/8 And Be There. And The Secret Of Photography Is Seeing (Jim Cochrane)
During my 44 years as a professional photographer (24 with the RCAF and 20 with the Edmonton Journal), the dozen or so flights I made with the Snowbirds was the most exciting. I flew in one of their aircraft just outside the formation and, when the weather was duff, would fly in the formation to search for different photo ideas. I feel very privileged when I look back at my photo life and still carry a camera with me all the time. Technology has changed photography so very much and in looking back I can see what a challenge it was from that perspective. However, the old phrase “f.8 and be there” is still so very true.
