Our 50th anniversary 1975-2025
IACC has been in operation since February 1975, and will celebrate its 50th anniversary as an active club in spring 2025. There are multiple anniversary activities planned from fall 2024 to spring 2025 that will engage club members, other photography-related organizations, and the public. We will host a club celebration on Thu Apr 10, 2025.
The club’s commitment to learning, giving back to the community, and having fun remains constant but our tools continue to change. We have moved from film cameras to smartphones, from prints to Instagram posts, and from the darkroom to more creative digital tools. The tools may change over time but our members still embrace creating images that reflect what they see with their eyes, their hearts and their imaginations. See below for upcoming anniversary activities for members: |
"Edmonton Then & Now" Photo Project
Our keystone 50th anniversary project is a digital library of Edmonton “Then and Now” images that will be used to create a photo book and slideshow. We have selected 75 digital “Then” images from Edmonton Archives that capture the spirit of Edmonton in 1975. We have asked members to share their equivalent Edmonton “Now” images by end of January, 2025. The matching pair of “Then and Now” images will reflect what has changed or remained the same during the past decades. For example, Edmonton City Hall, a downtown parade, Whyte Avenue, an Oilers hockey game, and the city skyline.
