Workshop details
Attendees will have the opportunity to actively participate in a critique session lead by Akemi Matsubuchi.
Attendees are invited to bring one image to be critiqued at the workshop. Please bring a print large enough to be seen by an audience of up to 25 persons. If a print is not available, attendees can bring one digital image (JPEG format) on a memory stick to be projected during the workshop.
The image file should be sent in high quality JPEG format. Please change the filename to <image title> by <your name> before submitting your file; e.g. Summer Flowers by Floyd Flowershooter. The subject line in the email should read image for Critique Workshop.
Note: see attached parking map. The closest parking lot to NAIT is SLC (near bottom of the map), lot F and S are also close. Please note evening parking rates are in effect between 4:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Lot SLC is hourly parking, $3.00 per hour, ticket dispenser. The Kingsway mall parking lot is actively patrolled, it has been suggested to not park there. There is also the NAIT LRT station

Intermediate Photoshop – Digital Blending
Pre-requisites
At least an intermediate level working familiarity with Lightroom and Photoshop. This would include being able to edit in and export from Lightroom as well as being comfortable using adjustment layers, including curves, in Photoshop.

Participants will have the opportunity to apply a step by step digital blending /post processing workflow to their own images.

- A laptop computer with Lightroom and Photoshop installed and functioning. Requires Photoshop CS6 or Photoshop CC
- A Lightroom Catalog created and holding 5 identical images exposed one stop apart
- The images are to be exposed -2 EV, -1 EV, 0 EV, +1EV, +2 EV
Course Material
- Shooting and Selecting Images for Blending
- Processing Images in Lightroom prior to blending
- Creating and Using Luminosity Masks for blending in Photoshop
- A Photoshop Post-processing workflow including tone and colour adjustments, sharpening, dodging and burning.
- Cropping
- Time saving with the Photoshop extension Lumenzia.
Participants will have the opportunity to apply a step by step digital blending /post processing workflow to their own images.

Oct-Nov, 2018: Composition for Beginning or Inexperienced Photographers

This workshop takes place over four weeks (Sundays 1:00-4:00 p.m.). The first three weeks we will look at the basic elements of design like line, shape, pattern etc. as well as a variety of other factors that affect composition.
The fourth week we work with post processing and how that can be used to strengthen a composition. We will discuss various software options available, but the focus will be on Raw processing in Lightroom.
There will be an assignment each week, then the results will be reviewed the following week.
