On Saturday, October 29, 2016 from 10:00 to 1:00 about 35 IACC members went on an outing to the Alberta Railway Museum, which is 100% volunteer operated and is the third largest railway museum in Canada. There are over 75 cars and locomotives on site. The locomotives are from the Canadian National Railways, Northern Alberta Railways, and industrial and short line railways.
We all chuckled about the weather, which (surprise, surprise) was cool and damp, but at least we were without rain or snow. After getting instructions from one of the 'conductors of the station' about the site and safety, we were allowed to venture off to find inspiration both inside and outside the trains and buildings. The two conductors also kindly posed for photo shoots.
Thank you to Terri Ross for once again organizing a great outing and for volunteering her time to sign everyone in at the front gate (not much fun in the mud and dampness).
Thank you to all the participants who remained safe in somewhat slippery and dangerous terrain; and a very big thank you to the volunteers from the Railway Museum for making it possible for us to be there.
