Instead of a parkade, this year we will walk along downtown streets, capturing the changing reflections as the sun (shining we hope) traverses the sky.

Tons of farm machinery, antique autos and miscellaneous mechanical gear. Bring your lunch and enthusiasm. Take Hwy 15 east to Lamont, turn onto RR195 before you enter the town of Lamont. Meet in the parking lot at 8:30 a.m.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS AT FORT EDMONTON PARK

Sunday 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Sleigh rides, 1905 and 1920 streets lit up and decorated, Father Christmas, and more. Tickets are $16 and go on sale Nov 7. Those who sign up for this should purchase their tickets online at the Fort Edmonton Park web site Fort Edmonton Park.

Ice carving at one of Canada's marquee ice sculpture events. New location this year: End of Steel Park at 103 St and Tommy Banks Way. Additional sculptures at the Alberta Legislature. Adult admission is $5.00. More details.

The third largest aviation museum in Canada. Many historical aircraft indoors and out; includes access to the aircraft restoration area. A tour guide will be on hand. Please be on time. Group rate is $8.00 per person.

BIRKEBEINER SKI FESTIVAL

Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Arrive at Ukrainian Village at 8:00am and until 9:30 capture cross-country skiers as they prepare for and begin the long Birkebeiner races - many will have interesting costumes. Then drive to Islet lake to photograph them at a mid-race checkpoint; scenic opportunities abound as well. Click here for a map.

Follow Highway 16 east to Ukrainian Village (just east of Elk Island National Park). Meet in the main building. Dress warm, this is an outdoor shoot. Some buildings are heated, some are not.

REFINERY ROW - SHERWOOD PARK

Thursday, 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Shoot refinery architecture from several pre-determined vantage points as daylight turns to dusk. A nearly full moon is expected to enhance our opportunities. We will be carpooling. Meet in Capilano Mall parking lot at 6:30 p.m. for maps and further instructions.
